Camp Heermance
Camp Heermance is now gone. The shelter has been removed.This tired old shelter sat just below the south summit of Mt Whiteface on the Blueberry Ledge trail. There is an unreliable spring there. It was run and maintained by the Wonalancet Out Door Club but was removed by the Forest Service in 2001 when it deteriorated too much to be restored. The site is in the Sandwich Range Wilderness Area and regulations require that all structures be removed when major repairs are needed. Camping near the site is strongly discouraged.
