Newly built Crag Camp
Crag Camp - 4247'
The RMC operates four backcountry facilities in the northern Presidentials; Crag Camp, the Log Cabin, Gray Knob, and The Perch. There is currently a $12/night fee at Crag Camp, and it operates on a first-come/first-served basis.
The new Crag Camp was in 1994. It is a closed cabin, but is not fully winterized and there is no heat stove. In July and August, a gas cook stove is installed and can be used when the Caretaker is there. Guests are expected to bring their own stoves and cooking gear. There is also running water in the summer months, but it is untreated. For the rest of the year, a spring is .2 miles away. The cabin is located just on the edge of King Ravine, .4 miles away from Gray Knob. The cabin has a kitchen and dining area, plus three bunkrooms that sleep a total of 20 people. While matresses are available, you are encouraged to bring your own sleeping pad. No camping is allowed within .25 miles of the cabin.
